The City will look to extend existing pavement useful life this year by performing partial and full depth asphalt patches, applying crack sealer, and installing a mastic sealer over the entire roadway surface. The mastic sealer is similar to a driveway sealer that is specially formulated to public roadway surfaces to not track in driveways and to help seal up fine hair type cracks in the pavement surface. Streets in the Springdale Terrace, Springdale Park, and Heritage Hill subdivision will all see this type of pavement preservation to help extend the life of the existing pavement.
The pavement surface along West Kemper Road from Springfield Pike to Kenn Road is in need of minor pavement repairs along both the east and west bound directions. During the summer of 2017, crews will perform both partial and full depth repairs prior to a final asphalt surface is installed. The street will remain open to traffic in both directions until crews begin working. Once work begins, flaggers will be used to maintain traffic during work in these areas.
Work will begin in the Spring of 2017 as the curbs will be removed and replaced with new concrete curbs. Crews will also be making necessary repairs to the pavement in the form of corrective patches to address areas of failure in the pavement. Following the installation of the curbs and asphalt pavement repairs, a new final course of asphalt will be installed throughout the entire area. Work will be complete by October of 2017.
Construction will begin in Spring of 2017 with some minor asphalt patches to be done on the pavement in the neighborhood. Once the pavement repairs are complete, a final asphalt layer will be placed on the roadway along with new pavement markings. Work will be complete by October of 2017.
Construction will begin during the late Spring of 2017 as the storm system will be reconstructed on Bernhart and Whallon Courts. Following the completion of the storm system improvements, the curbs throughout this area of the project will be removed and replaced with new concrete curbs. Following the completion of the storm work and curb replacement, the street will receive a new asphalt pavement surface. The work is scheduled to be completed by October of 2017.
An additional lane will be added to further aid traffic access to I-275 as traffic heads south along Route 4. The City of Springdale partnered with Ohio Department of Transportation to make this project possible from a funding and construction standpoint. The project has been contracted with local contractor Barrett Paving for the ramp modifications. Construction will begin in the Spring of 2017 and all work that may impact traffic will take place during evening hours.
Starting in December, Springdale residents in the area of Cloverdale Drive will be impacted by a watermain replacement project. This project was brought to the City by Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) as part of an infrastructure upgrade to the existing watermains that service this area of Springdale. GCWW will be contacting affected residents once the contractor has been selected. The project includes the installation of new watermains and fire hydrants, removal of existing fire hydrants, and reconnection of existing home service lines to the newly installed mains. Disconnection and reconnection to the water service will be coordinated through GCWW.
This work will take place over the winter months and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2017. Once the watermain project is completed, the City and GCWW will perform a final grind and pave of all streets in the subdivision.
The City contracted with local demolition contractor O'Rourke Wrecking for the complete demolition and grading of the site at the former Sheraton Hotel. Crews worked over the summer and fall to remove all of the environmental hazards to allow for demolition to commence. Following the demolition of the building, the site will be regraded and seeded. The City plans to sell the property to a developer that best represents the City's future vision for this site.
Many projects exist within the City of Springdale that we are currently evaluating for safety, traffic capacity, and future needs. These projects are in the development stages with regard to funding, engineering, and timeframe
