WHEN DO I NEED A PERMIT?

For all buildings other than 1,2, & 3 family dwellings and individual condominium units permits are required for the following work:

  • New Buildings
  • Building Additions
  • Interior Alterations
  • HVAC Units New and replacement
  • HVAC Ductwork
  • Reroofing
  • Fire Sprinklers
  • Fire Alarms
  • Kitchen Exhaust Systems
  • Fire Suppression Systems
  • Signs
  • Tents
  • Awnings
  • Demolition
  • Fences
  • Accessory Structures
  • Swimming Pools, Hot tubs and Spas
  • Gas Piping Installations
  • Structural Repairs
  • Water Heater Replacement
  • Storm Sewers
  • Retaining Walls
  • Hydronic and Refrigeration Piping
  • Driveways

The above list is not all inclusive. When you question if a permit is needed, your best bet is to call the Springdale Building Department at 513-346-5730.

Effective January 1, 2023: SResidents will no longer be required to contact Inspection Bureau Inc. for permits or inspections of NEW electrical work in the City of Springdale. This applies to all added wiring, signs, service panel, replacements, and new electrically energized equipment. All inspections for electrical permits issued before January 1, 2023, will be inspected by IBI.

Separate plumbing permits are required for new and extended water supply, waste and vent piping and replacement water heaters. Plumbing permits are issued by the HAMILTON COUNTY GENERAL HEALTH DISTRICT, PLUMBING DEPARTMENT 513-946-7800.
