SPRINGDALE'S HISTORY

The City of Springdale was first founded in 1806 as the Town of Springfield. In 1839, the town was officially incorporated as a village under that name. During later years however, the original incorporation was lost and the village was then re-incorporated in 1959 under the name of Springdale. A few years later, in 1971, the village became the City of Springdale.  For the Comprehensive History of Springdale 1787 - 1987, read more.

In 1992 the city constructed a new Municipal Building at 11700 Springfield Pike.

Springdale received an Ohio Historic Preservation Office Award for the Restoration Preservation of Old St. Mary's Cemetery.  View an online presentation about the restoration or a PowerPoint download.
