The Finance Officer/Tax Commissioner works under the general direction of the City Administrator and Assistant City Administrator. The Finance Officer/Tax Commissioner has oversight for the City’s financial responsibilities and obligations and is directly responsible for managing the operations of both the Finance and Tax Departments.
Katie Smiddy joined the City’s senior staff team in December of 2023 as the new Finance Officer/Tax Commissioner. Her background includes a combined 25 years of public finance, accounting and tax experience. Most recently, she held the position of Chief Finance and Information Officer at Hamilton County Community Action Agency.
Ms. Smiddy has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Xavier University and a Master's in Public Administration from Wright State University. She is a graduate of the Leading, Educating, and Development Program from the University of Virginia, Weldon Cooper Center of Public Service. She is an active member of the National and the Ohio Chapter of the Government Finance Officers Association, the Ohio Association of Public Treasurers, and the Southwest Ohio Tax Administrators Association.
